Here is a brief overview of my approach:
1. We do a book
study of "New Testament Holiness" by
Thomas
Cook. (PDF below) Each week we study one chapter. We address it in
general and then take it apart building on the scriptural support. We
indicate what is accurate, right, wrong, etc with the content. I
introduce and present the varying views where appropriate and we
discuss their validity. This text introduces the student to the subject
of in-depth Holiness in a rather stark fashion but seems to work well
for a starting point.
2. Next we do a
book study of "The Two Covenants" by
Andrew Murray. (PDF below) Each week we study one chapter in the same
fashion as above. This is a much more personal study and the content
provokes a
convicted and most urgent solicitation of the Holy Spirit for the work
to
be done in the heart.
3. Along with the
former "Two Covenants" study, I begin teaching in-depth Bible
Study method and practice with those that are serious after the Lord.
The primary books are Ephesians, Hebrews and 1 John. A verse by verse
approach is introduced, structured along paragraph analysis and
complimented
with basic language tools, observational techniques, and interpretive
methods. The student is directed to make the study of the Epistle
his/her
daily task complementing his/her daily prayer time and devotions, both
of which are separate from the study time.
4. The primary tool for
teaching Holiness is the Bible and the above mentioned books and study
methods are the tools and life foundation for the student. I
use Ephesians, Hebrews and 1 John to build all the rest of my Holiness
teaching around. From these three books I direct the student to
balance,
compare, expose, and evaluate all other material and teachings. The
student
is directed to make the Holy Spirit his/her teacher, not any book or
person, and depend upon Him entirely for revelation, insight,
understanding and Life, etc.
If there is any way I can help, just let me know.

NOTE: Just as Salvation is a profound mystery
to all those who do not have it, so is a completed Sanctification.
Consequently those who do not walk in His Rest cannot stand in
front of students and expect much success in bringing them into His
Rest. The way to success in such cases is to be a fellow earnest
seeker along with
your students, so that they will see your honest example and follow it.
When they do floor or altar time, get right down with them.
Be careful to not allow your imagination free reign in descriptions of
His Rest. You just cannot know its nature until after you have
dwelled within Beulah Land yourself for some time. Just as
Salvation cannot be fully described to a sinner, full Sanctification
cannot be
truly described to a believer who has not yet entered it. Despite all
my verbal attempts to help, the appropriate frames of reference are
lacking. Earnest Seeker
