This  website does not make much mention of our cherished pentecostal distinctives because:

This website is instead about your foundations of character and Covenant in Him.

The numberless issues to do with gifts, their exercise and the indwelling of His SPIRIT are only indirectly related to this.  The issue of His Rest has instead to do with YOU, and where you stand before HIM.  It is about the far more profound issues to do with the quality and completeness of YOUR SALVATION itself.  It is about nothing less than the nature of your relationship with Him. His Rest is foundational, in the most essential meaning of the word.  

 And:

1.  The other sections of this website are designed to be understandable by every believer, especially those evangelicals that have heard holiness alluded to by preachers, but seldom (if ever) was the way opened to obtaining it personally.  So, I am trying to keep all our good and useful pentecostal jargon just in this section.
2.  Most of the website articles are from before the famed Azusa Street revivals of 1910 that brought forth our "Holy Roller" forebears.
3.  After Azusa Street these pentecostal distinctives were very poorly understood.  This led to much confusion while the eyes of the crowds were dazzled by the novel signs and wonders.  Many opportunists arose that were happy to preach a shallow and convenient gospel in tents to exploit the crowds.
4.  His Rest is of a different order than these distinctives. It is a foundational grace, (like salvation is) while the distinctives are gifts. His Rest has to do with the spiritual health, essential viability, and structural integrity of the tree itself, while the pentecostal distinctives are to do with the effectiveness and nature of the leaves * on that tree.  So, His Rest is foundational, while the distinctives help us increase faith by building up ourselves and others in Him. As much as possible, I am trying to stay directly on the topic of His Rest.

 * "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."  Revelation 22:2

Leaves of healing  = living  instruments to obtain more in Him.

 "For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.  Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."    James 3:16-18 

Fruits of righteousness  = the inward beneficial  results that flow from faithful application of grace already obtained.

Those replete with the  fullness of the Spirit in a mature and fully sanctified heart must be hid in Him to hold the abundance of both fruit and leaves high above the marauding little foxes.  The distinctives bring forth their precious healing leaves, while the joyous heart-fruits shout holiness!!!

IS THIS REAL?

Most suppose that just because they saved, that they are saved.  Of course, you are; but there is more to it than that. But this "more" cannot be suspected until you begin to press to the limits of the blessing you already have. When you press in to really KNOW HIM with a relentless persistence and passion, "in constant secret tongues", you will find a mysterious opposition to Him within your heart.  You will see this ever more clearly during your special times of worship and intimacy with Him.  It will seem as if the more you press in to be close to Him, the more your heart will harden against Him.  Have you experienced this yet?

You then may find that your troubles seem to multiply.  They do not in actual fact, but your sensitivity has increased.  You are beginning to see hints of how He sees the nature of the realities around you.  You are starting to be hurt by the things that hurt Him.

When these phenomena start to unfold you will know that the integrity of your present reality is reaching it's limits.  It is time to embrace a new salvation that is a complete salvation. You now need more than pardon; you need real supernatural purity. You now need more than the imputed; you need the ACTUAL. When you enter His Rest, you will be astonished that you put up with so much of this tawdry world within for so long!!  You will be astonished at how very little of Him you had, for all your of your being so "Spirit filled".  In actual fact you needed a new kind of heart that could be naturally in accord with His Heart.....

MAKE NO MISTAKE!

Many today are teaching a home-made version of "His Rest" that has no support in reality, though it sounds good.  It says that if you relax into "His Will" and become accepting of His process for your life, (or some variation of this sensible-sounding theme) then you are in His Rest.  Well, in today's high pressure lifestyles some deliberate mellowing out is certainly needed, but it does not replace the real thing. Don't be fooled by "Fool's Gold".  The real gold is discussed on this website.  Do not miss it.  It may take a while for the penny to drop, so don't give up!!  There is another whole dimension of grace waiting for you in HIS Rest.  (Not your rest-  His is far greater than any you could make... For He is greater!) Earnestly seek His best.  Be a worthy Berean.  Don't give up.  If it was easy, everybody would have it already- including you!  But with the labour comes a great heavenly reward.

Yes, this was true before in a degree, but this is now full measure. However, keep in mind that His Rest is not something that just magnifies your existing blessings.  At salvation you received His Spirit.  Later, this same Holy Spirit was released so that your senses could also detect His gracious strong working within.  At salvation, you became His. When you enter His Rest, the other half of this Covenant transaction is completed and He becomes yours.  It cannot be mistaken.  You were sanctified in a beginning degree at salvation.  Entire sanctification is entirely as distinct from this as a raindrop is from an ocean.

Do not be presumptuous just because you have been devout and blessed so far. Instead, become supernaturally lowly of heart. Be wise. He is the "Ever-Becoming One".  There remains plenty of unexplored territory in Him to keep all of us quite humble - if we go out and find it as worthy seekers should.  

This is one way that we shew Him that we are indeed worthy of Him, instead of being mere shallow opportunists of His grace.
